Brazil V - Out and about in Curitiba

One theory about the name "Curitiba" comes from the Tupi words kurí tyba, "many pine seeds" due to the large number of pinecones of Paraná pines in the region prior to its foundation.

As most of Southern Brazil's population, Curitiba is mostly inhabited by Brazilians of European descent. The first Europeans to arrive in the region were of Portuguese origin, during the 17th century. The architecture shows a bit of European influence, specially in the central part of the city.

As well as other influences.

Many many parks exist within this amazing city and even in the central area the streets are decorated with flowers and huge trees.

Graffitty and unexpected details coexist amongst modern buildings, reminders of recent development.

So much to see. Two days and a half left to explore some more!
